Reward money for tip-offs increased

Following instructions by the Minister of Public Security Tiran Alles, the Inspector General of Police has decided to increase the amount of reward money paid from the Police Reward Fund to seize illegal firearms and hand grenades circulating in the country.

This has been done to seize illegal firearms in order to reduce the number of crimes and encourage Police officers who carry out such raids as well as private citizens who provide information on such illegal weapons. “Some of the crimes reported in the past show that illegal firearms and hand grenades are circulating in the island,” the Public Security Ministry said in a statement.

This situation is a hindrance to establishing the rule of law as well as creating a peaceful environment where people can live without fear of crime.

Therefore, the search operations for illegal firearms and grenades should be further increased, and to encourage all Police officers and private informants, it has been decided to increase the money paid from the Police reward fund for a period of one month, according to the instructions of the Minister of Public Security, Tiran Alles.

As a preliminary step, the below mentioned reward money will be paid for illegal firearms and hand grenades seized during raids between 25.06.2023 and 31.07.2023.
