The Foreign Employment Bureau of Sri Lanka (FEBSL) signed a memorandum of understanding on Friday under the chairmanship of the Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment, Manusha Nanayakkara, between the Sri Jinaratana Educational Institute affiliated to the Gangarama Temple and Korean Cluelife Institutes to start a training center.
This is aimed at sending skilled workers for Korean ship construction jobs. On behalf of the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau, Hilmi Aziz, its Chairman Prasad Jayaweera, the Secretary of the Board of Governors on behalf of the Sri Jinaratana Educational Institute, John Yung Lim, the CEO of Korea Coollife, signed the agreement.
According to this cooperation agreement, Sri Lankas are to be trained for jobs in the Korean shipbuilding industry. They are to be trained for welding jobs in the ship construction industry in the initial phase and ship painting training and electrical training are to be provided in the second phase.
Korean language training will also be given to all the trainers who are being trained for jobs in the ship construction industry. The Sri Jinaratana Educational Institute provides the necessary facilities for training and the Korean Coollife Institute conducts the training. All the trainees who receive this training will be given the necessary support to obtain employment from quotas provided to Sri Lankan workers for jobs in the Korean ship construction industry.
The Foreign Employment Bureau will conduct monitoring activities to ensure the quality of the relevant training activities.
