Boyfriend in Diyaluma hike remanded after elephant death

The Bandarawela Magistrate’s courts ordered that the boyfriend of the 23-year-old girl who was undergoing training to become a nurse and died after being attacked by an elephant while camping in a tent in the forest reserve above Diyaluma Falls be remanded until June 15.

The 22-year-old youth is a resident of Wariyapola area. He too was injured in the elephant attack and had received treatment at the hospital. It is said that this couple, said to be nature lovers, has made traveling around the country their hobby.

Meanwhile, the Bandarawela Magistrate’s courts earlier ordered that two young people said to be tourist guides who entered the Koslanda Udadiyaluma wildlife reservation without permission and helped the couple to erect a tent be remanded.
