We must work together to develop cricket, Minister tells ICC

“We must respect each other and always respect ICC law as well as Our laws said Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe at a discussion with the ICC three-member committee headed by ICC Deputy Chairman Imran Khwaja yesterday at the Sports Ministry Board room.

“I give my fullest support to develop cricket and we want to do the right thing to uplift the game. We know Sri Lanka cricket is on the decline and we should work to develop the game said Sports Minister at the discussion.

ICC officials earlier said not necessary to come and meet us and but they came suddenly and discussed with us and that is good for cricket and we hope all are giving their support to bring up Sri Lanka Cricket. Former Sri Lanka cricketer and former cricket Interim Committee Chairman Sidath Wettimuny, senior lawyers Dinal Phillips and Panduka Keerthinanda, and ICC officials were present at the discussion yesterday.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Cricket President Shammi Silva, Secretary Mohan de Silva, Vice Presidents Dr. Jayantha Dharmadasa, Ravin Wickramaratne, CEO Ashley de Silva and SLC Exco members also met ICC officials on Wednesday prior to the Sports Minister’s discussion and pointed out about their work and also pointed out political influence on SLC activities. SLC officials warmly welcomed ICC officials and had a friendly chat on the progress of SLC work.

After the Sports Minister's discussion, ICC officials were scheduled to meet President Ranil Wickremesinghe at Temple Tress yesterday evening.
