The government has taken measures to establish a National Nursing University, Cabinet Spokesman and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardena said yesterday.
He was speaking at the media conference held at the Government Information Department yesterday. The Cabinet of Ministers approved the combined resolution by Transport and Highways Minister as the acting Education Minister and the Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella to grant policy approval to establish Sri Lanka National Nursing University, taking in to account the recommendations furnished by the said committee of officers, and to formulate the relevant draft bill.
A decision was taken at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held on March 1 this year to appoint a committee comprising officers in order to submit a report to the Cabinet of Ministers after studying on the proposal furnished in regard to converting the Nursing School governed by the Health Ministry at present into a university.
