The Old Boys’ Chess Association of Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda has organized the 10th Dhamso International Chess Festival 2023, an Internationally rated Open chess event in collaboration with the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka and FIDE, with a total prize money of nearly LKR 1.4 Million in cash awards, certificates, medals and trophies at Hotel Lavanga Resort & Spa in Hikkaduwa from May 26 to 30.
Dhamso International Chess Festival Player of the Year will be awarded Rs. 150,000.00. The event will be played according to the Swiss System and 10 Rounds.
This year Dhamso organizing team take every effort to organize the event at a superior level. It would not just be a FIDE Rated event. Also there will be International Rated Blitz Event on May 27, Rapid Event for the parents, Crazy Tournament & Workshops for trainers, Arbiters and Parents are a few segments included in the event.
Parents’ workshop will be conducted by Prof. B. L. H. Perera on the topic of the Importance of Sport, Education and Childhood. Trainers’ Workshop will be conducted by the FIDE Instructor Gihan De Silva and Arbiters’ Workshop by the IA Malith Akalanka. Top games will be live-streamed.
Standard & Blitz events are held in an Open format. Winners will be awarded as their age groups, rating categories, and Government Sector/ Mercantile & Higher Education categories. All the participants will receive certificates.
