Skipper Chamari Atapattu hit a superb knock of 64 in 60 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes while off-spinner Oshadi Ranasinghe captured her best figures of 5 for 23 in her six-over spell as Sri Lanka Women recorded a 58-run win over Bangladesh Women in their second ODI at SSC grounds yesterday and take a 1-0 lead the series.

Oshadi took the first five-wicket haul of her ODI career.

A fine all-round performance by Sri Lankan lasses but undoubtedly the experienced off-spinner Oshadi Ranasinghe who opened the bowling with pace bowler Udeshika Probodani made most of the damage. Sri Lanka skipper Chamari Atapattu won the toss and decided to bat first with no hesitation as the SSC wicket was helpful for the home team to build up a good score before the game was reduced to 30 overs per side due to wet ground conditions but SSC ground staff headed by curator Mahesh Bopage did an excellent job to start the game at 1.15 pm.

Skipper Chamari Atapattu was in real form generating power hits out of the ground with 6 fours and 4 sixes for her knock while Harshitha Samarawickrma made a good supporting role to get an unbeaten 45 in 48 balls with 1 boundary and a six guided the Sri Lanka team to get a challenging total of 186 for five wickets.

Bangladesh lasses chasing a target of 187 were unable to make a good start with the first three wickets tumbling at 35 runs in 7 overs and two bowlers Oshadi Ranasinghe and Udeshika Probodani made a challenging spell from the start.

Skipper Nigar Sultana made 37 in 51 balls with a four and a six while Fargana Hoque hit 24 in 46 balls with 2 fours but that was not enough to reach their target as the visitors were all out for 128, with one ball of their 30 overs to spare.

Oshadi Ranasinghe was named the Player of the Match.
