The Care Lanka Initiative, under the guidance of the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and in coordination with the Emirates Red Crescent and the Zayed Foundation, distributed about 1,500 packs of dry rations to poor families in Batticaloa and Mannar from April 17 to 20 during the month of Ramadan.

The Emirates Red Crescent functions as a relief and aid agency. True to its motto, “Life Care”, it provides humanitarian assistance while engaging in developmental and reconstruction projects. The Zayed Foundation is a non-profit organisation that provides charitable, humanitarian and developmental aid to improve people’s living standards.

The Care Lanka Initiative is a service and performance-oriented entity, which was incorporated in 2020 and working along with many international and local NGOs, to assist the marginalised and other vulnerable groups, regardless of their religious and ethnic affiliations. Its special feature is to serve Sri Lanka by rendering humanitarian assistance and engaging in development initiatives.

This year the Initiative worked along with the UAE’s two premier humanitarian organisations at a time when the country is in an economic recession where the needy struggle to secure at least two meals per day.
