Poorna Sulakshan a cricketing star in the making

Fourth year player, Vice Captain of the team, Middle order bat leg spinner and safe fielder, Under 13 Best Bowler of the New Zealand Trophy conducted by St. Xaviers College Marawila, Member of the all island under 19 division three inter schools tournament 2022/2023 and Sri Lanka Cricket Division three Daily News player Pooma Sulakshan has brought honour and glory to his alma mater Dhammissara National School with his deeds in the field of cricket.

Pooma who hails from Marawila, Nattandiya was bom on 3rd October 2003 and admitted to his present school in 2009 and when he was in grade one to five he did not take part in any sports and in 2014 his parents Sujitha Poomapriya and Chandrani Vidanage handed over their son to the school POG Keerthi Jayasekera and Cricket Coach Nuwan Ruchira and in

2015 he was selected to the school under 13 team and claimed 32 wickets in his first year and played for two years.

He won the Best Bowler’s Prize at the New Zealand Trophy under 13 tournament conducted by St. Xaviers College Marawila. He Played for the under 15 for two years and captured 15 wickets in five matches and his school came up to the Best Eight.

His first year in the under 17 too he bagged 15 wickets and in his second year he was an unanimous choice for the first eleven team. There was no cricket due to Coronavirus and in the 2022/23 Division three Cricket Tournament he claimed 16 wickets and in the finals they beat Lalith Athulathmudali College to clinch the Trophy and he was the Vice Captain of the team and he played for the Falcan Cricket Club in the Daily New Trophy Division Three Tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket.
