SL Schools ‘Maroons’ stickers, a young bunch of talent

Sri-Lanka Schools ‘Maroons’ stickers which participated at the Junior Nationals was a young bunch of players with talent.

Sri-Lanka Schools Hockey Association entered two teams, Maroons and Golds at the recently concluded Junior Hockey Nationals, conducted by the Sri-Lanka Hockey Federation and held in Kandy.

Sri-Lanka Schools Maroons stickers were unfortunate to end their campaign early by losing to Kandy Hockey Association by 3 goals to 1 and Mercantile Hockey Association by 4 goals to nil. But the schools’ Maroons faired well at this tournament.

Players selected for this team are a set of talented players from schools through out the island and if they can improve their skills, they can be an asset to represent the National team in the future.

The teams comprised Ushira Warshavithana (St. Aloysius College, Galle), Helaruwan Karunaratne (Vidyartha College, Kandy), Kalana Ratnayake (St. Thomas College, Matale), Oshada Ranatunga (Kingswood College, Kandy ), Uduwara Hewawasam (Richmond College, Galle), Shafeekul Fazly (President’s College, Maharagama), Akila Kawshalya (Dharmaraja College, Kandy), Ayuka De Silva (Panadura - Royal College), Methmal Jeewananda (Dharmadutha College, Badulla), Adeesha Konara (Dharmadutha College, Badulla), Senula Ambalangodage (Isipathana College, Colombo), Sandaruwan Perera (Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa), Dulmeth Perera (St. Thomas College, Mount Lavinia), Nuran Senanayake (Dharmaraja College, Kandy), Nipun Dissanayake (Nalanda College, Colombo), Vihaga De Silva (Dharmaraja College, Kandy), Diluka Thrimanahettige (St. Benedict’s College, Kotahena), Kasthuri Jayalath (Trinity College, Kandy).
