Saudi Arabia evacuates its nationals and foreigners from Sudan

Saudi Arabia has safely evacuated its citizens from crisis-hit Sudan, the Saudi Arabia Embassy in Colombo said in a media release yesterday. Nationals of brotherly and friendly countries were also evacuated, the release said.

Following is the full statement of the Saudi Arabia Ambassador in Sri Lanka, Khalid Hamoud Alkahtani in this regard:

“In the implementation of the directives of the Kingdom’s Leadership, we are pleased to announce the safe arrival of the citizens of the Kingdom who were evacuated from Sudan as well as several nationals of brotherly and friendly countries, including diplomats and international officials, who arrived in the first evacuation operation carried out by the Royal Saudi Naval Forces with the support of various branches of the armed forces.

“The number of citizens who were evacuated is 91, while the number of people who were evacuated from brotherly and friendly countries was 66, representing the following nationalities – Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE, Egypt, Tunisia, Pakistan, India, Bulgaria, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Canada, and Burkina Faso. “Saudi Arabia worked to provide all the necessary needs of foreign nationals in preparation for their departure to their countries.” The Kingdom’s Leadership always works for the comfort of Saudi citizens, in and out of the Kingdom, the Saudi Ambassador said.
