At this year's National Rowing Championship, crews from various schools and clubs around the country came together to showcase their skills on the water. With intense competition at every turn, both talent and perseverance were seen by all athletes who took part.
The Rowing crew of Gateway College Colombo has yet again brought pride to their alma mater, as their hard work and dedication for this sport has paid off rich dividends. The crews' commendable effort to achieve these goals whilst sitting for examinations and other duties is truly an example of fine sportsmanship. The crew had been tirelessly training together for months, putting in extra hours each week to ensure they were in peak physical and mental condition. They were racing against other elite oarsmen and women and fighting through difficult conditions on the water.
They emerged with one gold, five silver and three bronze winning boats, in the U14 Boys Quadruple scull, U16 Boys Quadruple scull, U14 Boys Single scull, U14 Girls Single scull, School Girl sculler, and the U16 Boys Double scull categories winning a total of 16 medals respectively, showing their perfect performance leaving no doubt as to their strength and skill along with the guidance of the coaches.
