Leo Club of Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) has conducted various projects for society in the fields of Environment, Health care, Elders, Children, Disabled people, and Education. Leo Sixes is another project organized by SLIIT Leos under the sports and recreation category.
Leo Club of SLIIT - Leo District C1 hosted the event 'Leo Sixes' on behalf of Leo District 306 C1 on April 9th from 8. 00 am at Shalika Stadium. Leo Sixes is a cricket carnival even which any Leos or non-Leos can participate. 20 teams actively participated in the event along with six members and two extra players for each team.
Among the 20 teams that participated in the tournament, Pothurawa Super Rangers won the championship beating Homagama United in the final. The Best Bowler trophy was won by Dilan Madushanka (Pothurawa Super Rangers) and the Best Batsman trophy by Dammika (Pothurawa Super Rangers). Yasiru in Pothurawa Super Rangers was able to win the Man of the Match trophy. The winning team of the tournament received a cash prize of Rs.15,000 and the runner-up team received a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 apart from the trophies and certificates.
The motive of this event was mainly to enhance the fellowship among the members of the Leo club and to develop bonding and interactions among the Leos and non-Leos. More than 500 contestants and spectators participated. 306 C1 Leo district president Leo Kojitha Gamlath, District vice president Leo Thimira Uyanhewage and District treasurer Leo Nisal Dulmith participated as guests.
