Two Police Special Task Force Police constables who were digging for treasures in the Lacto watta in Vanathavilluwa used by Easter Sunday attack mastermind Zaharan Hashim as a training camp were arrested early yesterday (19) morning by the officers of the Kurunegala Police Special Task Force.
The two suspects had been deployed for security at the location. Explosives buried by Zaharan and the team in that garden had been discovered before the Easter attack.
After the Easter attack, Vanathavilluwa Police provided police protection to the land and later this land was handed over to the Police Special Task Force and a Police Special Task Force team was used for its security.
A custodian of a devalaya who had been brought by the two constables to assist them to find treasures had fled when the police raided the location and police are investigating to arrest him.
The suspects are to be produced in court.
