Customs nabs Rs. 300m worth smuggled fags

Custom sleuths yesterday succeeded in recovering counterfeit cigarettes valued over Rs. 300, when they opened a suspicious cargo imported from Dubai.

Custom officials said that over 3 million fags were stacked in the container, which was declared as Gas cookers by the importer.

This container was seized by the customs officials after analyzing intelligence information received to the Customs Department from various sources.

The investigation is led by Senior Director of Customs, U.K. Ashoka Ranjith and Senior Deputy Director of Customs Chandani Senevirathna.
