Motorbike shooters fail to hit target as firearm malfunctions

A person who returned to the country after living in Italy for about 20 years was shot at by two people who came on a motorbike at Marawila, Kossinna on Sunday night.

The Marawila Police stated that the 48-year-old man was shot in front of his house.

Police said that this person returned to this country about a month ago and he was preparing to return to Italy when the incident occurred.

According to Police, two people who had come on a motorbike had stopped in front of the house where the victim was staying and called out to him. Then when he had come out of his house towards the motorbike riders, a pistol had been fired at him. However, the first two shots failed to fire. The victim had then made use of this opportunity to run away from the scene when according to the Police a third shot was fired but had hit a wall.

A senior Police officer said that it appears that the first two shots did not fire due to a malfunction in the firearm. The Police found the two spent shells at the place where the shooting took place.

The Police said that the person who was the target of the shooters left for Italy yesterday (03) as planned. Police suspect the shooting to be a result of an incident which had taken place in Italy.
