Tuks to reduce hire charges by Rs. 20 a km

All-Island Three-Wheeler Drivers’ Union (AITWDU) has decided to reduce three-wheeler fares from midnight today

to provide the benefit of the fuel price reduction to commuters.

Charges for the first kilometre will be Rs.100 and the second kilometre will be Rs.80 from yesterday. We have decided to grant a concession to the consumers by reducing the taxi fare along with a price reduction of Octane 92 petrol by Rs.60 and Octane 95 petrol by Rs. 135.

Earlier, the three-wheeler fare for the first kilometre was Rs. 120 and Rs.100 for the second kilometre. Meanwhile, the Association also expressed its disappoinment on the government for not taking steps to increase their weekly fuel quota to 15 liters. “We have made several requests, but no response was received from the relevant authorities,” he added.
