13th SLFPC contingent returns from Lebanon

The 13th contingent of the Sri Lanka Force Protection Company (SLFPC) in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) returned to the island yesterday (1) upon completion of their service tenure in the UNIFIL.

During the first phase, one Officer and 89 Other Ranks returned to the island yesterday and the remaining group is expected to return after the 14th SLFPC, set to leave for Lebanon today (2), undertakes responsibilities in a few days.

The Centre Commandant, Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) Regimental Centre and its Deputy Centre Commandant with several Officers and relatives were at the airport to receive the first batch.

The Army’s 13th SLFPC includes 10 Officers and 115 Other Ranks, together with one Lady Officer and seven women soldiers for the first time and the contingent is mainly composed of SLLI Regiment troops. They had left for Lebanon on February 27, 2022.
