Indian Visa Centre robbers arrested

Bambalapitiya Police yesterday arrested five suspects including a female sanitary worker in connection with the recent theft at the Indian Visa Center at Phillip Gunawardena Mawatha, Colombo on the morning of February 15.

“The 62-year-old sanitary worker is an employee of this centre and her paramour is also among those arrested,” Police said.

It was reported that three people who had come by a three-wheeler had broken into the Indian Visa Centre and stolen the official laptop of the Country Manager of the centre and several other electronic items.

The Police have recovered a laptop, a DVR, a camera and an i-Pod in the possession of the suspects.

It has been revealed that the suspects had entered the premises with the intention of robbing money from the counter but their attempt had failed. The suspects are residents of Kirulapone and Wellawatte. Bambalapitiya Police are investigating.
