SLFP President, General Secretary restrained by PS member

The Colombo District Court yesterday (21) issued an injunction against Sri Lanka Freedom Party Chairman, former President Maithrirapala Sirisena and Party General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara, preventing the nomination of a new councillor to the Ja-ela Pradeshiya Sabha.

Colombo Chief District Judge Poornima Paranagamage issued this order after considering a case filed by PS member Chamali Ann Suwanthi Perera. This case was filed by her noting that it was illegal to cancel her party membership without any notice and against the party Constitution and unjustly and without disciplinary investigation. The court issued an injunction valid until March 3 and ordered the defendants to testify in court on that day.
