New General Officer Commanding the 24th Infantry Division

Brigadier Wipula Chandrasiri took over as the 14th General Officer Commanding the 24th Infantry Division located at Malwatte in Ampara District on Sunday (January 1, 2023) and assumed duties on Monday (January 2).

Army Commander Lt. General Vikum Liyanage made this appointment. Earlier Brigadier Wipula Chandrasiri was serving as the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence and Administration) of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, Ratmalana for more than two years.

As a Colonel he functioned as the Brigade Commander of 241 Brigade at Akkaraipattu from August 2017 to May 2019 and rendered invaluable humanitarian services to all three communities during the period and earned much respect from the public of the District.
