The Government has decided to pay a Special Advance of Rs. 4,000 for public servants at the beginning of the year, Home Affairs State Minister Ashoka Priyantha said.
The payment of this advance will commence today and be completed on February 28. It will be recovered within this year.
The relevant Public Administration Circular was issued on December 30, with the concurrence of the Treasury.
“Most of the public servants did not receive their usual year-end allowances, such as festival allowances, bonus etc., last year due to firm restrictions on the Government expenditure in the face of the prevailing economic crisis.
The salary advance is intended as a relief to them,” the State Minister said.
Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government Ministry Secretary Neel Hapuhinna said the salary advance would be recovered in 12 equal installments within the year.
