Excellence in dentistry recognized with awards

Dental Awards 2022 to honour and recognize the very best in the dental profession in Sri Lanka took place at the Taj Samudra hotel in Colombo recently.

The awards ceremony organized by Oram (Pvt) Ltd recognized and honoured dental doctors and their service to the industry.

It also marked the graduation of dentists who completed the Endostar Asian Endodontic Conference 2022 - held on November 26 (lectures workshops) organized by Oram. Awards were given to those who completed the basic and intermediate implant training course, advanced course in implantology, bi cortical implant course and certificate courses for 30 dental students.

Altogether 200 doctors and students participated. Foreign experts in the relevant fields conducted the workshops and training.

Felicitation awards were given to veterans in the field which included Dr. Sirimevan Samarakoon (consultant in restorative dentistry), Dr. Asela Wijesundara (BDS Sri Lanka), Dr. Thuthikaran (BDS Sri Lanka), Dr. Imran Muhuseen (BDS Sri Lanka). Dr Amal Ranasingha (BDS Sri Lanka) and Dr. Nalaka Samankula (BDS Sri Lanka).

The chief guest was Dr. Chandana Gajanayake, Regional Director of Health Services – Colombo; guest of honour – Dr. Buddhika Dasanayaka (President, College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of Sri Lanka) and distinguished invitees included Alexandra Eva Wilk (Phd) Export Manager – Endostar Poland, Catagina Bros Wik – a lecturer from Poland and Prof. Vinod Kumar from India. Dentists serving at various locations islandwide and Mushtaq Jabir, CEO, Global CEO of Oram) too were in attendance.

The Dental Awards is a first by Oram in Sri Lanka and the inaugural event was held in 2018. The 2022 Dental Awards took place after a hiatus of two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Oram Director Mudassir Jabir in his welcome speech said, “Today we have recognized and honoured exceptional individuals from the dental profession in both the private and government sectors in Sri Lanka. It is correct to say that this is the largest stage that recognizes and rewards dental doctors in Sri Lanka.”

Chief Guest Dr. Chandana Gajanayake, Regional Director of Health Services - Colombo said, “New technology and innovations are driving the dental industry forward at the international level. I have to say Oram is in the forefront of introducing such technology and new innovations to Sri Lanka. They are bringing the highest international standards and new innovations in the field of dentistry to Sri Lanka and imparting that knowledge to dentists and other professionals in the field.”

Oram (Pvt) Ltd which has over 20 years experience in the medical field and over seven years in the dental field is today a pioneer company in relation to dental practice and education in Sri Lanka.
