BRC led by T.M Sampath emerged champions at the Malay cricket sixes invitational tournament which was conducted to celebrate Malay cricket Club's 150 years anniversary at Mercantile Cricket Association grounds recently.
BRC defeated Malay CC in a one sided affair at the final while at the semi finals BRC recorded victory over NCC.
Earlier BRC defeated Tamil Union at the first round and they had an unbeaten record in this tournament.
Danal Hemananda the Peterite all rounder of BRC was adjudged the Best Bowler while skipper T.M Sampath was named Best Batsman of the tournament.
Eight teams CCC, Tamil Union, SSC, Colts, Moors, NCC, Malay and BRC were took part at this tournament. The champion BRC team comprised T.M Sampath (Captain), Dushan Hemantha, Lahiru Samarakoon, Leo Fransisco, Danal Hemananda, Dulaj Ashen, Rasanjana Silva and Malinda Jayod Karunarathne.BRC was coached by Pasan Wanasinghe and Assistant coach Dinesh Chaminda.
