Surveyor shocked as burial ground sold to client

A surveyor who went to survey a land owned by an individual was in for a shock as he found that it was not an ordinary land but a public burial ground.A person residing in Nittambuwa area had filed a case in the Attanagalla District Court requesting that he be given the right to two pieces of land in Thihariya which he claimed to had purchased a few years ago.

In relation to that case, when the authorized surveyor K.N.A.W. Suriyaarachchi visited the address of the land on Friday morning he found that it was not an ordinary land but a public burial ground.

Upon hearing his arrival the Chairman of Thihariya Jumma Mosque had explained to the surveyor that this is not an ordinary land but a public burial ground that has been maintained by his mosque for more than 50 years.He had told the surveyor somebody may have fraudulently sold the land to the buyer. The surveyor is to report the matter to the court.
