Sri Lanka’s Kiran Vairavanathan put up a tremendous performance to reach the final of the Boys’ Singles event at the ITF Junior Circuit Week-5 Tennis Tournament, which continued at the SLTA Clay Courts in Green Path yesterday.
The schoolboy from the British School in Colombo rallied around magnificently and went on to beat Germany’s Max Pade in an exciting three-setter 6-0, 1-6, 6-2 in the semi-final encounter.
Vairavanathan’s opponent in today’s final will be Hungarian Lorant Gyori who had the better of Jason David of India in the second semi-final fixture.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s Girls’ doubles pair of Saajida Razick and Dinara de Silva also qualified for the final when they defeated the Indian combination of Kaira Chetnani and Durgashi Kumar in straight sets 6-0, 6-1.
