An Old Girl of Girls High School, Kandy, Gayanjali Amarawansa who led the Sri Lanka Netball team to become Asian Champions was felicitated by Malkanthi Abeygunasekera, Principal of Girls High School, the Staff and Students of the School on the 30th of September 2022. Sri Lanka beat host nation Singapore by 63 -35 in the final to emerge champions.
Gayanjali was received at the entrance to the School by the Principal,Staff and Students and taken in a procession to the auditorium of the school to a special assembly.
She was a Member of the School Societies as well as the Games Captain who excelled in sports such as Athletics, Gymnastics and Chess in addition to Netball and she was also the Netball Captain of the School team.
Gayanjali became the Netball Queen in School Seven times from 2012 to 2019 and she has participated in Two World Netball Championships in Australia and England representing the School.
