Acting Cabinet Spokesman Plantation Minister Dr. Ramesh Pathirana said the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme will be revealed soon to the Cabinet, the Opposition Leader and the heads of COPE and COPA Parliamentary Committees.
He was responding to a question by a journalist at the weekly Cabinet media briefing held at the Government Information Department yesterday.
Minister Pathirana further said that there is nothing to hide in IMF programmes and all the facts and provisions will be presented to the Cabinet, the Opposition Leader and chairmen of the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE), Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) and the Committee on Public Finance. Several MPs of the Opposition demanded to submit the IMF programmes in Parliament recently.
The Speaker informed the House that Central Bank Governor Dr.Nandalal Weerasinghe had informed him that he has no objections to the agreement being tabled provided the Finance Minister is agreeable to it.
