Bourse gains over +200 points on positive interim budget

Colombo bourse gained over +200 points on positive interim budget whilst also there was a speculation of an IMF deal to lead moving the market upwards.

Thus, All-Share Price Index increased by 205.9 points (+2.3%) to close at 9,071.3 for the day whilst S&P SL20 Index also gained by 66.2 points (+2.3%) to close at 2,928.9.

Broader market’s total turnover stood at Rs. 4,256.4 mn against the 12-month average daily turnover of Rs. 4,463.9 mn, whilst the volume traded for the day was 134,832.

0k against the 12-month average daily volume of 212,659.2k. Capital Goods and Transportation mostly contributed to yesterday’s turnover.

Aitken Spence, Melstacorp, Hayleys, Lanka IOC, Lanka IOC and Aitken Spence and LOLC Holdings remained as the top positive contributors to the ASPI during the day. Foreign purchases stood at Rs. 991.1 mn whilst total foreign sales amounted to Rs.293.7 mn.
