Rukmani Kodagoda Trophy Junior Golf Championship Awards Ceremony was held under the patronage of Mrs. Shan Perera, sister of Rukmini Kodagoda just after the finals at Royal Colombo Golf Club yesterday. The Perera and Sons Bakers Sponsored Junior Golf Championship concluded yesterday and in the semi finals top seeded Haroon Aslam eased into the Final of the Gold Division Junior Golf Champion Title clash defeating Pranav Muralitharan 7 & 5. However, in the second semi-final K. Danushan fired 4 Birdies to Vinuda Weerasinghes 3 Birdies to clinch the tensed battle 2 & 1 on the 17th hole. To determine the Junior Champion for 2022 The final Teed-Off at 9.00 a.m. on Friday, and Haroon Aslam overcame Danushan 2-1 to clinch the Gold Division Title,. However, Danushan playing on his home course RCGC pushed Haroon to the wire.
The Girls Gold division for the Rukmini Kodagoda Trophy saw Kaya Daluwatte beat experienced and confident Sherin Balasuriya 2-1 in the final. Kaya annihilated Yelani Peiris 9 & 8, whilst Sherin was stretched all the way by a determined DhevinkaKanag-Isvaran in the semi finals
In the Silver Division, again the juniors in the 12 to 14+ age group category produced really good Golf and in a close encounter Reshan Algama overcame Jacob Norton 5-3 On the other hand, ReshanAlgama going 1 down after the 9th birdied 11th& 12th to regain the lead and hold on for a decisive win.
The Bronze Division final between ThejasRathisKanth and SaqeebZuhar went in favour of Thejas RathisKanth who romped to victory . The Copper Division for Age group 9+ & below over 14 holes Match-play Danik Daluwatte played Yuva RathisKanth in a close battle for supremacy. Danik beat Taalia Silva 7 & 6, whilst Yuvan defeated Jaeden Sathasivam 4 & 2, in the semi-final matches.
