The Nalanda College cricket team which broke a 69 year old hoodoo by beating Ananda College in the 92nd Battle of the Maroons at the SSC grounds on July 11th to clinch the Dr. N.M. Perera memorial trophy was felicitated l at a ceremony held at the school yesterday
In addition Sri Lanka youth players Raveen de Silva and Vinuja Ranpul and National Chess champion 2021-2022 Susan Silva were also hououred with mementoes and cash awards at this ceremony.
Three members of the 1953 Nalanda team Chndrasiri Weerasinghe, Nalin Perera and retired senior DIG Chndra Mendis were also present on this occasion.
The principal of Nalanda College Thilak Watthuhewa speaking on the occasion said that he was delighted to organise this felicitation for the heroic cricketers who have broad honour and fame to the school with this historic achievement.
This years victorious Nalanda Cricket team was led by Dineth Samaraweera with Chanul Athukorale as his deputy.
