Soldiers cultivate fallow paddy lands

The soldiers of Dambulu-Halmillawa Mechanized Infantry Army Camp at the border of the Matale and Anuradhapure Districts in the Palagala Divisional Secretariat have started cultivating fallow paddy lands with food crops such as green gram and cowpea. They said that the harvest will be distributed among the villagers.

This programme was launched on July 3 under the guidance of Army Chief Vikum Liyanage and the direction of Dambulu-Halmillawa Infantry Army Camp Commander Brigadier Abeysingha. Deputy Chief of Staff Channa Weerasuriya, Infantry Commander Brigadier Balasuriya and other army officers along with the soldiers participated in the effort.
