Apna Perera produced a splendid performance to clinch the Boys’ Under-18 Singles title at the 107th Colombo Open Tennis Championships, which concluded at the SLTA Courts in Green Path yesterday.
The experienced third seed lived up to expectations as the favourite and went on to outplay his opponent fifth seed Thilina Dissanayake 6-1, 6-1 in the final encounter.
Meanwhile, Lisal Goonetileke and Methwan Wijemanne clinched the Boys’ Under-16 Doubles title with an exciting 4-1, 2-4, 10-5 victory over the combination of Sandaru Guruge and Karthi Udayachandran in the final.
The Girls’ Under-16 Doubles title went to Hesara Nisandee and Oneli Samarawickrama as they defeated the pair of Yashitha Warnakulasuriya and Shashinka Chandrasiri 4-1, 1-4, 10-5 in the final encounter.
In addition, the pair of Aahil Kaleel and Nuran Wickramasinghe won the Boys’ Under-14 Doubles title by overcoming the combination of Jamal Sabry and Louis Knese 4-1,-4-0 in the final game.
