President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Russian Ambassador Yury Materiy yesterday discussed issues related to a number of important economic areas, including further exploiting Russia’s growing demand for tea.
Other areas of focus included tourism, fuel, coal, gas, aviation, education, trade and fertilizer.
Russian Ambassador Yury Materiy called on President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the President’s House, Fort, Colombo.
2022 marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and Russia.
Recalling the strong state ties and friendship between the two countries, the President thanked Russia for its support towards Sri Lanka during the COVID pandemic as well as assistance in other areas whenever needed.
