Kusal Mendis became a father for the first time last Sunday (19 June) on Fathers Day. Sri Lankan Cricketer Kusal Mendis entered fartherhood despite his hamstring injury as he is busy welcoming good news back to back.
After knocking down Australia to help his side lead the series by 2-1, on Sunday night he received the best news of his life. Monday morning he had to rush to Colombo Private Hospital to see his new family member.
Mendis’s wife Nishell enraptured Mendis after she delivered a baby girl on Sunday night. Mendis and his wife got married on February 12th 2021 in Colombo.
Kusal Mendis had to eventually retired hurt in the third ODI between Australia and Sri Lanka. He was unlucky to have missed out on a deserving hundred. He was involved in a 170* partnership with Pathum Nissanka who went on to make 137.
The duo helped Sri Lanka register a remarkable victory chasing 291, which is the highest total chased at the venue and is also the highest chase by Sri Lanka against Australia. (D.R)
