The newly appointed Head Coach of Sri Lanka Men’s National Football Team Andrew Morrison (right) and the Assistant Coach Keith Stevens (left) are seen here after their arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport.

Andrew Charles Morrison of Scottish origin, a former player of Manchester City UK and Keith Stevens from Australia were appointed as Head Coach and Assistant Coach for the National Football Team by Sri Lanka Football (SLF) respectively.

This was a historic decision taken by the current administration of Sri Lanka Football to appoint high-profile foreign coaches for the National Teams. Both coaches were received by Manager of Sri Lanka Men’s National Football Team Hiran Ratnayake and Head of Competitions Asif Ansar on behalf of SLF at the Bandaranaike International Airport on May 15 (Sunday).

“We are looking to get started. It’s been a long flight, just need to get checked in and meet the players and the president and then start the ball rolling. Really excited about the opportunity.

We’ve done a lot of research and got a lot of footage to look over in the coming days, but we’ll be prepared when the games come around. There’s been a lot of planning and hard work from our end,” the Head Coach Andrew Morrison said after their arrival. Both Morrison and Stevens expect to observe a training session before meeting the President of Sri Lanka Football, Jaswar Umar.

The Former Head Coach of Sri Lanka National men’s football team and the current Technical Director of Sri Lanka Football Amir Alagic will be vacating the post at the end of June 2022. He joined Sri Lanka Football in February 15, 2020 as the Head Coach of the Men’s National team and was appointed as the Technical Director of Sri Lanka Football in February 2022.
