Power Minister Gamini Lokuge today requested the public to use electricity sparingly.
The Minister said the public is urged to use electricity sparingly between 6:30 PM and 8:00 PM today due to a shortage of 20 MW in the supply system.
He said that the power capacity of hydropower plants has declined. Under these circumstances the Government’s intention is to continuously supply power round the clock.
The Ministry has appealed to the public to support them by using electricity sparingly.
