Kalawewa, Balaluwewa sluice gates opened

Eight sluice gates of the Kalawewa were opened due to heavy rainfall in the upper zones of the Kalawewa and Balaluwewa. Two sluice gates have been opened up to five feet to release 4,900 square feet of water.

Another six sluice gates were opened later due to heavy rainfall and two more will be opened today if the rain increases during the day.

The public has been warned of sudden floods due to the opening of the sluice gates.
