The Sri Lanka National Football Team will fly to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for a two-week residential camp before the SAFF Gold Cup Tournament in the Maldives from October 1 to 16. This was following a request made by Jaswar Umar, President of Football Sri Lanka (FSL) to his counterpart of Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF), Yasser bin Hassan Al-Misehal.

27 players and 11 officials will participate in this residential camp.

“We are very thankful to Yasser bin Hassan Al Misehal and the Saudi Football Federation for accommodating our request at a short notice.

Our boys will now be able to get into an all-important extensive training camp with fully fledged facilities,” Jaswar said yesterday.

The Lankan National team is scheduled to play a few friendly matches while engaging in their training during their stay in Saudi Arabia.

The National team is likely to return by October 26 and will travel for the SAFF Tournament.

Meanwhile, they are also scheduled to travel to Qatar for training before the inaugural 4-Nations Tournament from November 4 to 17 in Colombo involving Maldives, Seychelles, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
