Sri Lanka Tourism promoted at Diplomatic Summer Celebrations in Frankfurt

Consul General of Sri Lanka to Frankfurt Madurika Joseph Weninger said that Sri Lanka is one of the diverse biological hotspots in Asia, having 26 national parks to explore, many of which are home to extraordinary wildlife.

She also said that Sri Lanka being a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-religious nation of hospitable people celebrate many cultural festivities.

Consul General Madurika Joseph Weninger was addressing the annual Diplomatic Council Summer Celebrations as Chief Guest on August 26. The event was held at the exclusive Villa Bonn in Frankfurt am Main with the Diplomatic Council Founders Secretary General Hang Nuguyen and Executive Chairman Andreas Driptke in attendance.

The Summer Celebration was also graced by the captains of industry from Germany’s southern region, Diplomatic Council members and the Hessian Honorary Consuls as well as Regional Trade leaders.

The Consul General speaking to the large and distinguished gathering highlighted the beauty of Sri Lanka and its rich cultural heritage. She also spoke of direct connectivity and that the national carrier SriLankan Airlines operates twice weekly from Colombo to Frankfurt am Main.

She also outlined that Tourists can visit approved tourist sites under the safety of a bio-bubble.

The Consul General impressed upon the audience that Sri Lanka has been endorsed by many publications as a top Destination and Best Island to visit in 2019 and 2020 by Conde Nast, Lonely Planet, Travel & Leisure, Top country for winter travel by USA Today, Asia’s leading Adventure Tourism.

The Consul General also expressed Sri Lanka’s appreciation to the German Government’s global contribution to COVAX facility from which Sri Lanka has benefited. This gesture is a reflection of longstanding bonds of friendship between Sri Lanka and Germany.

Attache Ashini Perera, and the local staff of the Sri Lanka Consulate General promoted Ceylon Tea at the Celebrations.

The guests enjoyed the evening whilst sampling and sipping the 7 regional flavours of Ceylon Tea. Traditional sweetmeats from Sri Lanka were also served to the guests. Gift bags with the compliments of Sri Lanka Tourism and the Sri Lanka Tea Board were presented to the delight of the guests.

A documentary on Sri Lanka Tourism was also screened. The Consul General’s presentation on Tourism and the Tea presentation were well received by the audience. Most attendees were looking forward to visiting Sri Lanka in the near future.
