Robbers posing as cops arrested

Wattala Police have arrested a three member gang who engaged in a spate of robberies while posing as Policemen.

The Police say they have so far uncovered details of around 17 robberies conducted by the suspects while posing as Police officers.

Police investigations have revealed that the usual modus operandi of the suspects was to stop vehicles or motorbikes while pretending to be Police officers and then take the owners to a lonely place and rob cash and other valuables.

The suspects are said to have used handcuffs and fake identity cards.
