Bailey announces wrap of ‘The Little Mermaid’

It's official! Actress Halle Bailey has wrapped up shooting the live-action remake of 'The Little Mermaid'. Announcing the same on her Instagram handle, the star shared a gorgeous sunset picture and penned a heartfelt note of thanks to her cast and crew.

“And just like that..that’s a wrap.”

In her sweet goodbye message to her team, Halle wrote, “After auditioning for this film when I was 18 just about to turn 19, to now finishing filming through a pandemic when I turned 21 ..we have finally made it…”

“I feel so grateful to have experienced this film in all of its glory…it has been the toughest experience being away from everything and everyone I’ve ever known, to feeling self-doubt/ loneliness, but also feeling such freedom and perseverance as I’ve reached the end,” she continued. “This experience has made me so much stronger than I ever thought I could be.”

“I cannot wait for time to speed up so you all can watch this film because it was made with so much love (plus blood sweat and tears) lol,” she concluded. “Thank you, Sardinia for a wonderful ending!!! xoxo.”

While Halle will take on the lead role, the film will also star Jonah Hauer-King as Eric, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Javier Bardem as King Triton, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian and Awkwafina as Scuttle.

The live-action film, directed by Rob Marshall, will revolve around Hans Christian Andersen's fairytale of a mermaid called Ariel who wishes to be human after she falls in love with a prince. Ariel makes a deal with Ursula, who grants her the wish but takes away her voice in return.
