The Foundation Stone laying ceremony of Zahira Sports Complex was held recently at the Zahira College Colombo under the patronage of principal of the college Trizviy Marikkar. Construction of the Sports Complex is a project by Board of Governors and Old Boys Association.
Firoze Limited Chairman and Phoenix Ventures Limited Director Mohamed Haji Omar was the chief guest at this event.
The Sports Complex will consist of facilities for the visiting and home teams, gymnasium, squash court, indoor games area for carom, chess etc., basketball, badminton, boxing, riffle shooting, table tennis and volley ball.
Zahira College excelled in many sports activities including Cricket, Football, Rugby Football, Hockey, Swimming, Athletics, Scouting, Cadetting. Distinguished Old boy Jisthy Fahmi is the project chairman.
Deputy Mayor of Colombo - M.T.M. Iqbal, Chairman of the Board of Governors - Fouzul Hameed, BoG Secretary - Alavi Mukthar, BoG Treasurer - Hilal Sanoon - Old Boys Association President - Naina Mohamed, OBA Secretary - Nuzri Munsoor, Members of the Old Boys Association, Parents, Teachers Association, Prefects and Students were also present.
