Twenty-three Parliamentarians were appointed as new District Coordinating Committee Chairpersons for 23 administrative districts by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa yesterday.
They received their appointments from President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the beginning of the swearing-in ceremony of the Cabinet in Kandy yesterday morning.
MP Pradeep Undugoda has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Colombo District Coordinating Committee while MP Sahan Pradeep Withana was nominated for the Gampaha district.
MP Sanjeewa Edirimanne has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Kalutara District Coordinating Committee while MP Wasantha Yapa Bandara will be in charge of the Kandy District.
MP Nalaka Bandara Kottegoda has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Matale District Coordinating Committee and MP S.B Dissanayake for the Nuwara Eliya District.
MP Sampath Athukorala has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Galle District Coordinating Committee, MP Nipuna Ranawaka for the Matara District, MP Upul Galappaththi for the Hambantota District and MP Angajan Ramanathan for the Jaffna District.
MP Douglas Devananda has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Kilinochchi District Coordinating Committee while MP K. Dilipan will be in charge of the Vavuniya District. MP Cader Mastan has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Mannar and Mullaitivu Districts Coordinating Committees while MP Kapila Athukorala is for the Trincomalee District, MP D. Weerasinghe for the Ampara District Coordinating Committee, MP Gunapala Ratnasekera for the Kurunegala District, MP Ashoka Priyantha for the Puttalam District Coordinating Committee and MP H. Nandasena for the Anuradhapura District. MP Amarakeerthi Athukorala has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Polonnaruwa District Coordinating Committee.
Former Parliamentarians S.B Dissanayake, Douglas Devananda,Cader Mastan and Angajan Ramanathan were among the new District Coordinating Committee Chairpersons appointed.
