Sixteen year old Rizwan excels for Zahira

First year first eleven player, left hand opening bat, right arm off spinner and an all rounder with a good arm and a safe fielder in any position 16 year old Mohamed Raeed Rizwan of Zahira College, Colombo has excelled with the bat in the 2019/20 cricket season and he was the Baby of the Team

Raeed played for his Alma mater in the 2019/20 cricket season as an opener and came under Sanjaya Dissanayake and he passed the 500 run mark and with his occasional off spin bowling he claimed nine wickets in his first eleven debut game against St. Aloysius College, Galle with five wickets an innings.

He commenced his cricket career at the age of 7 years and joined the school cricket academy under Safraz Farook and at the age of 10 he was selected to the under 13 division one team under Kanishka Perera and in 2015 he scored 197 runs and claimed 11 wickets and in the following year he got 278 runs and grabbed 18 wickets and his last year captaining the team in 2017 he scored 387 runs and captured 29 wickets and in his last year he scored 862 runs and bagged 58 wickets.

In his first year in under 15 and 2018 he scored 274 runs and bagged 17 wickets and in his second year he captained the team and scored 492 runs and captured 39 wickets and he scored 766 runs and claimed 56 wickets during these two years and under his leadership Zahirans reached the quarter finals.

In the Prima Contest he was selected to the Colombo North Team and playing for the second year for Colombo North he captained the team and his coaches in District Level were Shanaka Fernando and Tharaka Gunaratne and he represented for the Western Province North team and they were the Champions and former Vazian Wasantha Wijesuriya coached them.

In the mean time he joined the Sinhalese Sports Club Cricket Academy and came under Carlton Bernadus, Hemantha Ranasinghe and Leslie Narangoda and captaining the under 13 and 15 teams and in the under 13 Mercantile Cricket Tournament they won the under 13 championship and their under 15 team came up to the semi finals.
