Special postal voting date for quarantined people

The public servants in district secretariats, election officers, police personnel, Security Forces personnel, health staff and Civil Defence Force personnel who are entitled to postal vote can mark their ballots from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm today (16) and from 9.00 am to 2.00 pm tomorrow (17).

Postal voting commenced on Monday is to continue until Thursday. A total number of  705,085 voters are reportedly eligible to cast their postal voting.

Any postal voter who could not make it during the above mentioned dates can cast their postal votes on July 20 and 21 at the relevant District Secretariat Office of his/her work place.

The Chairman of the Election Commission Mahinda Deshapriya said that, a special date has been fixed for those who are under quarantine to cast their vote. They will be able to mark their postal votes on August 4.
