Teacher guidelines issued for opened schools

The Education Ministry has issued guidelines relating to teacher attendance for schools that opened on July 6.

Under these guidelines, teachers, who have not been assigned for teaching are not required to report to schools until July 24. However all teachers must report for duty at their respective schools at 7.30 am as usual from July 27.

The first phase of school opening for students is being carried out from July 6 to July 17 while the second phase will be carried out from July 20 to 24. The Education Ministry urges school authorities to minimise congestion at schools owing to the threat of Coronavirus pandemic. The Ministry has asked Principals to summon only the teachers assigned for school time tables and not other teachers assigned for administration or disciplinary activities.Teachers assigned for duty are allowed to leave the schools upon completion of their assigned duties.

Principals are made aware that all the teachers should report for duty as usual by at least 7.30 am from July 27, on which academic activities are scheduled to commence for Grade 6 to 10 and 12 students.Teachers need to stay until 1.30 pm and the teachers who will be assigned to teach until 3.30 pm should stay until 3.30 pm from July 27.

All the teachers who report for duty from July 27, should sign the attendance register (Common 18) once they check in and out.
