Pizza Hut launches ‘Aswedduma’ ‘Sowing Seeds to Nurture Sri Lanka’

Gamma Pizzakraft Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, the single franchisee for Pizza Hut in Sri Lanka launched ‘Aswedduma’ under the concept of ‘Sowing Seeds to Nurture Sri Lanka’ on June 3. This is a corporate social initiative to support our motherland in creating self-sufficiency through the encouragement of home gardening of vegetables.

The programme which involves the distribution of free vegetable seeds, shares the vision of Sri Lanka, in aiming to achieve prosperity through expanding and promoting home gardening in urban and semi urban areas.

With each delivery order made via Pizza Hut’s signature hotline, a packet of seeds would be handed over to our customers on request, to help them create their ideal home garden.

“We are absolutely passionate about this venture as it shares the vision of the nation with the objective of a more prosperous and self-reliant Sri Lanka. Aswedduma reflects our long-term vision for our community, representing a healthier, happier and prosperous future. At Pizza Hut Sri Lanka, we truly care about our customers and this is a reflection of our commitment and dedication to encourage home gardening and the consumption of organic vegetables”, said Yasa Nadaraja, CEO of Gamma Pizzakraft Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. Kaushal Mendis, Director Human Resources of Gamma Pizzakraft Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, stated, “‘Over the recent years there has been growing interest to strengthen and intensify local food production through home gardening in order to ensure nutritious and economical food supply to the households as well as mental and physical well-being for the people involved.

Home gardening is brought under the spotlight now where it has become a national priority where as a nation Sri Lankans are focusing towards self-sufficiency. We as a responsible corporate, take immense pleasure and pride in contributing to a national exercise which will pave way for a brighter tomorrow for the next generation.”
