FCID to be disbanded

Co-government spokesman Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage said a cabinet paper will be presented that will see the Financial Crimes Investigation Department being disbanded.

He said the FCID was an illegal institution set up with the motive of pursuing cases against selective individuals. “A Cabinet paper will be presented soon that will see the FCID being disbanded.We see no reason to have a separate unit for such crimes. All cases will be transferred to the CID who will take it over,” he said.
