The film ‘Marukathara’ which is based on a series of true crime incidents has gotten the approval to be screened. The film is Sarath Dikumbura’s maiden film. The renowned actor who had been 35 years in the field had also directed a number of teledramas like ‘Durgathma’ and ‘Sandakumari’.
‘Marukathara’ is based on the stories of Marusira, Podi Vijay, Hithumathwe Jeevithe, Kalathave Soyza, and Katharagama Manamperi. The protagonist of the story, Harry, is a youth who lives peacefully in a village. He is drawn to take revenge due to an in cident faced by his sister. This is when the story unfurls and follows a series of chilling incidents.
The story, script, dialogues and direction is by Dikumbura. Dr Indika Wijeratne, Siraj Mohammed, Vindya Wijesinghe, Palitha Gamage, Sandamali Ruhunuge, and Jeewananda Rajasinghe are co producers. Apart from Dikumbura, Udayanthi Kulathunga, Rathna Sumanapala, Palitha Silva, Cletus Mendis, Mark Samson, Ajith Lokuga and others star in the film.
